Reaching Out in Love

There is a Food Pantry at Christ of the Bay.  Donations of dry goods and canned foods may by left in the kitchen.  Karen K. is coordinating the effort.

Help is needed with the building of a Habitat for Humanity house (sponsored by Thrivent for Lutherans).  If you have some time that you could offer, call Kristin 406-7445 or the church office 468-4246.  No experience needed!

June 23th-27th was VBS week in 2008 at Christ of the Bay.  The theme was "Friendship Trek - Jesus, Our Forever Friend".  42 kids, many unchurched, attended and learned the truth about Jesus!!

We have an emergency fund for some of our members who have lost jobs or need assistance.  If you are moved to give a special gift, please put a check in the offering plate or send it to the church office.  Make check payable to: Christ of the Bay Lutheran, with "Emergency Fund" on the memo line.  Vicar will see to it that the appropriate people receive the funds.  Thank you for any help you can give.

We have some group projects that need your help.  Information is on the white board in the fellowship hall.  We are helping 2 single mothers with needed household items and teaching English.

Each month we have a special collection offering for a needy cause. Sometimes it's a missionary; sometimes a group like Wheat Ridge or hurricane victims.  You'll find a special clear box on the guest book table for your donations to these causes.

We had an angel tree for Christmas again this year. Congregation members chose a paper angel from the tree with a description of a person who needed us to brighten their Christmas.

Our LWML chapter, the Ladies in Mission, has many projects. On April 5th we held our annual Craft, Bake and Rummage Sale.  This year's sale raised over $2000 for missions and projects.  This year at Christmastime we collected small items for 4 families in need. These were wrapped and given to them before Christmas. In the past we have also marked Bibles for prison ministry and made quilts for the "Linus Project". Our group meets on the second Monday of each month at 6:30 p.m. at the church.  Our group co-hosted the LWML North Wisconsin District Convention June 26-28th, 2006 at the KI Center in Green Bay.

Our music ministry offers many ways to share. The voice choir practices on Wednesday nights at 7:45 p.m. and sings in the worship services during the holiday seasons. HeavenSound, the praise team, practices at 5:45 p.m. on Tuesday nights (8:15 a.m. Sunday morning in the summer) and leads the congregation in the 10:30 a.m. worship service each Sunday (9:00 a.m. worship in the summer).  The 9:15 a.m. Sunday School opening is a place where children offer their praises and they will also be singing in the worship service at various times.

Our Sunday School offerings have gone to the Salvation Army food bank, missionaries and other good causes.
